How to foster healthy classroom debates

So why is encouraging healthy debates so crucial? Speaking and listening is one of the most used skills that we need in order to succeed.


Teaching a pupil who is eloquently able to express his or her views and convey them in a calm, a knowledgeable and engaging manner is one of the many ways the inequality divide can be tackled. It helps accelerate progress in other areas, especially in reading, writing and reasoning.

Our thought processes actually work faster and effective speaking and listening skills enable us to translate them more quickly. Furthermore, it teaches pupils to become critical thinkers, accept opposing views with grace and most importantly, it allows them to become articulate.
