Valentines Day is largely regarded as a day for adults. But it is also a great vehicle to bring your class together with some fun, hands-on activities and to engage them in conversations about respect, value and inclusion.
In the activities below, you’ll find fun art projects, critical thinking activities, as well as science, math, and even spelling ideas. All credit to the amazing educators that created these amazing activities.
1. Roll and Colour Valentines Day Counting Game - Fun Learning for Kids
This is a take on collecting information. By rolling dice, children will colour in the number of hearts that comes up on their die. Using pink and red crayons will give this activity a nice Valentine’s Day touch.
2. Heart Marshmallow Toothpick Structures - Buggy and Buddy
Creating marshmallow structures is very affordable as it only uses two supplies – heart shaped marshmallows and toothpicks.
Not only do students have fun while being creative and learning about the basic principles of physics, but they’ll also be working on their problem-solving. You can also pair or team up the class to incorporate teamwork into the exercise.
